Located on Kenya’s Eastern coastline bordering the Indian Ocean, is the Mombasa city. It is the second largest city in Kenya and one of Africa’s major tourist destinations.
The city is also very rich in culture due to the pre independent and early settlers. The tours and excursions we have prepared include visits to historical places including the Fort Jesus built in 1953 and the old town with buildings and history dating back to the pre colonial period.
Pick up is at 0800hrs for the City Centre. Drive along the Mama Ngina drive on the sea shore to enjoy the beautiful views of the Indian Ocean and the Likoni Ferry on your way to Fort Jesus.
Once you arrive there our guide will take over and start the tour of the Fort Jesus, a National Monument with history dating back to pre-colonial period. Proceed to the old town and walk along the narrow streets filled with so much activity.
Walk towards the Fruits and Spice market.
Next visit the Hindu mosque, then proceed to the Mombasa Landmark (elephant tusks) for photographs. Drive to the Akamba Handicraft Industry where you can buy curios and at the same time see how the curios are made and carved. Some of the different carvings made here include, human sculptures, animal sculptures, decorative accessories and functional carvings among others.
Lunch will be at the Tamarind restaurant. After which you’ll proceed to the Ngomomgo villages. Here you get the chance to learn about all the tribes of Kenya and their different cultures.
After the tour of Ngomongo Villages, you will be transferred back to your hotel in time for dinner.
